Emerging from Manchester’s research on digital transformation for development is a growing thread of work on artificial intelligence for development (AI4D).

Steering between the over-optimistic hype and the AI doomsaying, this seeks to understand how countries of the global South can best harness the power of AI in pursuit of development goals. But it also explores the deeper ethical and political implications of this potentially-revolutionary innovation.
