On my decision to choose the GDI
I chose the University of Manchester because it is one of the top universities in the UK, the location of the city, football teams and many other factors.
Overall, these factors helped to select Manchester because studying is not only the course you choose but also the people who you're surrounded by and the place where you are.
On my career after graduation
I didn't have a perfect vision of my future career after graduation but the skills and knowledge I have received at Manchester gave me more confidence to try whatever I want. My course, professors and the University itself provided many opportunities to develop my hard and soft skills. These sharpened skills helped me in my career path.
I now work as Senior Lecturer in the Academy of public administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Generally, I teach students at universities, schools and the Academy. I came across teaching after graduation because I want to share my experience. Now, I train civil servants to use project management in their sphere.
On my learnings
One of the most surprising takeaways for me was people I have met because they have different experiences, cultures, languages and skills. We spent time studying together, acquiring new skills, sharing ideas and emotions. Today, we still keep in touch. I believe that they have a little part of me in their hearts because of our shared experiences at Manchester.
On my advice for prospective students
I have two pieces of advice: 1) Do not miss out on your deadlines - it is important, and 2) explore everything around you, including new people, new places, and new opportunities because this time does not come back.
