I come from India and, after going through many programmes offered by various universities at the master's level, I compared them to the ones offered at The University of Manchester and decided to apply for this prestigious programme as it was in line with my work in the humanitarian sector.

Secondly, I was attracted by The University of Manchester's outstanding reputation for academic excellence and research.

The University's diverse and vibrant community, along with its strong emphasis on innovation and real-world applications of knowledge, greatly appealed to me. Additionally, the wide range of resources and support services available to students ensures a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.

The course modules were covered nicely during weekly interactive study sessions, and the case studies discussed were practically applicable to my work.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my dissertation supervisor, Dr Gerardo Quinones, for his invaluable mentoring and guidance, which enabled me to complete my dissertation on time and graduate from the MSc program with Merit.

Were then any specific modules or lecturers who particularly inspired you?

Yes, several specific modules and lecturers particularly inspired me during my time in the program. One such module was "Fundamentals of Information and Information Systems", taught by Professor Jacobus Renken. His dynamic teaching style and deep expertise in the field made the subject incredibly engaging and thought-provoking.

Additionally, Professor Richard Heeks' module on "Digital Governance" was particularly impactful. His real-world insights and practical approach to the complexities of organisational transformation provided me with valuable perspectives that I continue to apply in my professional career.

Both professors not only deepened my understanding of the subject matter but also inspired me to pursue excellence in my field and to continuously seek innovative solutions to management challenges.

I recommend studying all the modules thoroughly and exploring their practical applicability in your current job. Whenever possible, apply the concepts and skills you learn to your workplace. This approach is crucial, as it allows you to directly benefit from your education and enhance your career.

Current students should take advantage of the resources available at GDI and the broader university. This includes academic support, career services, and libraries. These resources can significantly enhance your learning experience.
